Bitcoin: native buying picks up, Ethereum: native selling pressure eased, short selling subsidy drives rebound According to data from Glassnode from October 15th to 21st, the rebound of Bitcoin has been supported by increased purchasing power in spot markets. The active buying amount increased by 4.9% compared to the previous week, and the active selling amount increased by 1.5%, with buying slightly higher than selling. During the same period, the loss on the chain decreased by about 32%, and the loss turnover is also decreasing. BTC's weekly short liquidation amounted to approximately $158 million, an increase of 52% from the previous week. When a short position is forced to close, there will be a demand to buy back, which will help the price continue to rise. The increase in short supply has added another part of buying power. From the perspective of spot trading, the rebound of ETH this week has mainly been helped by a decrease in selling volume. The active buying amount decreased by 6.1% compared to the previous week, and the active selling amount decreased by 9.7%. The selling volume shrank even more, leaving room for price rebound. However, the loss on the chain still increased by 14%, nearly twice the profit achieved, and the loss turnover situation for the whole week is still weak. In the past three days, the acceptance of ETH has begun to improve, with active buying exceeding active selling, and the loss and profit on the chain are also approaching balance. Meanwhile, over the past week, the holdings of currency based futures have decreased by 3.5%, while short liquidation has increased by 58%, indicating that this rebound is also accompanied by position contraction and short covering. At present, buying BTC is only slightly higher than selling, and the buying amount of ETH is still decreasing throughout the week.
