Satellite navigation startup Xona raises $250 million in Series D funding, led by early investors from SpaceX
On October 22nd, according to Forbes, American satellite startup Xona Space Systems completed a $250 million Series D funding round, valuing the company at $2.45 billion. This round of financing is led by Future Ventures, which was co founded by Steve Jurvetson, an early investor and former board member of SpaceX, and invested $78.5 million in this round. Xona was founded in 2019 by former SpaceX engineer Brian Manning, dedicated to developing a satellite navigation system called Pulsar, attempting to challenge the existing GPS system with a commercial satellite network. This round of financing is only 7 months away from the company's previous $170 million Series C financing. The company stated that the accelerated financing reflects the growth of market demand, and its satellite factory currently has actual production capacity.
