According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korea's Financial Services Commission Chairman Lee Bok-hyun stated during a parliamentary audit on October 22 that the implementation of the crypto asset taxation system, originally scheduled for January 1, 2027, should fully consider various circumstances and differing opinions.
Previously, South Korean lawmaker Song Eon-seok suggested that taxation should not proceed before the legal status and regulatory framework for digital assets are clearly defined, proposing to abolish or further delay the related tax system. In response, Lee Bok-hyun said the government is in the final stages of discussions on the 'Basic Act on Digital Assets' and will expedite legislative deliberations. The Ministry of Economy and Finance is also gathering opinions from various parties on the issue of crypto asset taxation. Since its establishment in 2020, South Korea's crypto asset taxation system has been postponed three times. Currently, the government is still preparing for implementation according to the January 2027 timeline, with no decision yet on another delay. https://www.(wublock123.com)/news/south-korea-financial-commish-considers-crypto-tax-deferral-70504
