[Circle CEO: Stablecoin Regulation May Gradually Clarify, Not Particularly Focused on Bitcoin's Short-Term Price]
Odaily Planet Daily News - Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire stated in an interview that he is not particularly focused on Bitcoin's short-term price performance but is more optimistic about the digital dollar for payments and the AI agent economy. Allaire mentioned that the digital dollar can be used for payments, trading, lending, and investment. He noted that AI agents will participate in more economic activities in the future, potentially driving further demand for the digital dollar and related blockchain infrastructure, though he did not provide specific data on the growth of such demand.
On the regulatory front, the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency is drafting rules related to the 'GENIUS Act.' The proposal requires stablecoin issuers to hold reserve assets no less than the total circulating amount of stablecoins and to redeem them at face value within two business days, while also prohibiting issuers from paying interest to holders. Allaire believes the act has bipartisan support and could provide policy assurance for the stablecoin industry. However, broader legislative progress on the U.S. crypto market structure has yet to be achieved.
