The entire internet security community is in chaos—overnight, websites in multiple European countries just went offline. The power of this PHP vulnerability is nothing short of terrifying!
Things are even crazier in Japan. Sanae Takaichi even retweeted it, and several companies have started urgently hiring PHP developers overnight.
What’s wild is that this incident is once again tied to AI discovering historical vulnerabilities. PHP’s official team admitted that one of the vulnerabilities was actually discovered back in 2024 but was never fully patched.
According to Wiz’s disclosure, about 70% of websites globally use PHP.
The crypto world is also affected. SlowMist scanned 1,488 domains in the crypto industry and found that 793 of them had direct PHP technical fingerprints—about 53%.
So, in the next few days, make sure to do these two things:
1⃣ Don’t click on any sketchy websites—resist the temptation!
2⃣ Keep an eye on the websites where you store your assets. If there’s any related security announcement, move your assets immediately.
OpenAI is just too powerful—after tackling math, they’re diving into cybersecurity. Up next, get ready for the era of major vulnerabilities!
