According to a report by Golden Finance, on October 22, Elon Musk stated during SpaceX's Q3 earnings call that both SpaceX and Tesla's boards have established independent special committees to evaluate the possibility of a merger between the two companies. However, he emphasized that it cannot yet be confirmed whether the transaction will be finalized. Based on Tesla's latest quarterly filings and SpaceX's pre-IPO S-1 filing, the two companies hold 11,509 and 18,712 bitcoins respectively, totaling 30,221 BTC. At a bitcoin price of approximately $83,000, this is valued at around $2.5 billion. The total cost of the bitcoin holdings for both companies is approximately $1 billion, with an average purchase price of about $35,000 per bitcoin. If the merger is completed, this batch of bitcoin will be consolidated into a single balance sheet, making the merged entity one of the largest corporate holders of bitcoin globally, second only to major holders like MicroStrategy. However, neither company has signaled any intention to increase or sell their bitcoin holdings, and the merger remains in the evaluation stage.
