**[Trump to Highlight Crackdown on Overseas Crypto Scams at White House Event]** Golden Finance reports that on October 22, U.S. President Trump will emphasize his administration's efforts to combat overseas crypto scams during a cybersecurity prevention event at the White House on Wednesday. According to Reuters, citing White House officials, these overseas criminal networks have been deceiving Americans into participating in fraudulent crypto investments. Trump and members of his cabinet plan to highlight the government's actions, including the seizure of multiple fraudulent crypto investment websites and steps taken to shut down online impersonation scams. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, FBI Director Kash Patel, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and Attorney General Todd Blanche are expected to attend. The event follows an executive order issued in March this year, in which Trump directed the Department of Justice to prioritize identifying and prosecuting online scammers. Subsequently, he issued a memorandum instructing the Department of Homeland Security to collaborate with private enterprises to monitor foreign criminal hacker organizations. FBI data shows that by 2025, Americans are expected to file over 1 million online scam complaints, a 17% increase compared to 2024, with record-breaking losses. Crypto scams account for more than half of these losses, with the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center recording 181,565 crypto-related complaints, resulting in $11.366 billion in losses. Crypto investment scams alone caused $7.2 billion in losses. Most of the scam activities have been traced to organized crime groups in Southeast Asia, involving Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar. Criminals exploit victims of human trafficking as forced labor in scam compounds. Americans aged 60 and older bear the heaviest losses, with crypto-related losses reaching $4.43 billion. Crypto ATM scams caused $389 million in losses, a 58% increase compared to 2024, while secondary scams targeting previous victims resulted in an additional $1.4 billion in losses. The FBI's "Operation Upgrade" in 2025 notified 3,780 victims currently experiencing crypto investment scams, recovering an estimated $225.8 million.
