[Putin Agrees in Principle to Resume Russia-U.S.-Ukraine Trilateral Talks, Abu Dhabi May Be the Venue] According to a report by Jinse Finance on October 21, citing Reuters and Axios, the Kremlin stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin told U.S. envoy Whitcroft on Wednesday that he "agrees in principle" to resume trilateral peace talks between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States around November 10 to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict, with Abu Dhabi potentially being the venue. Whitcroft held a three-hour meeting with Putin in St. Petersburg that day, during which he presented the latest proposal to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Former U.S. President Trump's envoy Jared Kushner participated in the meeting via video link. Whitcroft expressed to Putin that progress had been made during the Oslo talks and urged both sides to consider resuming the trilateral negotiations and allowing technical experts to participate in discussions on specific issues. He also submitted several documents to Putin regarding the peaceful resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Additionally, Putin proposed to Whitcroft the possibility of Russia playing a mediating role between the United States and Iran. Putin stated that Russia has built a special relationship of trust with Iran over decades and is willing to assist in resolving the current crisis.
