I just realized that Optimism changed the official X banner to @soneium. Even the iconic @base back in the day didn’t get this kind of treatment. What makes Sony-incubated Soneium so special? Turns out, Soneium adopted OP’s enterprise-level fully managed service, outsourcing all the chain’s underlying operations to OP. Just like that, they’ve become OP’s big-shot client. But honestly, Soneium’s on-chain data is pretty bad. The total DeFi TVL on the chain is barely over $5M, down 98% from its peak. It’s clear that OP is banking on Sony’s big-name reputation. Soneium is unlikely to issue a token anytime soon.
