[Sources: Bank of Japan to Decide Next Week Whether Inflation Rate Has Reached 2% Target] According to a report by Jinse Finance on October 21, citing Kyodo News, informed sources revealed on Wednesday that the Bank of Japan will evaluate at next week's policy meeting whether the underlying inflation rate has reached the 2% target. If this determination is made, it will mark a symbolic turning point for the Bank of Japan, signaling a departure from its long-standing monetary policy aimed at combating deflation. The Bank of Japan first set the 2% inflation target in January 2013. Despite implementing aggressive monetary easing programs, the bank has repeatedly postponed the expected timeline for achieving this goal. If the target is finally met, nearly 14 years will have passed since it was first proposed.
