[Netanyahu Pushes to Resume Military Action Against Iran, U.S. Officials Say 'No Rush']
Reported by Golden Finance, on October 21, according to the Financial Times, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is pushing to resume large-scale military strikes against Iran. Earlier this month, he instructed the military to draft plans for a new round of large-scale offensives. Three informed sources revealed that the Israeli military had previously developed a multi-day bombing operation plan, initially scheduled to commence over the weekend of October 10. The targets included power plants and other civilian infrastructure, nuclear facilities, and objectives related to the Iranian regime. However, the operation was ultimately not carried out.
Sources indicated that former President Trump opposed reigniting conflict before the U.S. midterm elections on November 3, which led to the cancellation of the operation. The sources also stated that the bombing campaign was originally planned to deliver a stronger blow compared to the U.S.-Israel joint military action against Iran launched in February this year. One source noted that it is "not impossible" for Israel and Washington to resume strikes in the coming weeks.
An informed source revealed that Israeli officials had submitted an updated list of Iranian targets to the U.S., including objectives identified through the latest intelligence, such as civilian infrastructure that had not been targeted earlier this year. However, White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly stated that Iran is in a "very dire situation both economically and militarily." She emphasized that U.S. efforts to block Iranian ports and redirect Gulf oil exports through the Strait are yielding results, and stressed that "the U.S. will not launch any attacks on Iran before the midterm elections."
