[Dragonfly Partner Refutes Polymarket Founder Misappropriation Report as 'Nonsense']
According to a report by Jinse Finance on October 21, Dragonfly Managing Partner Haseeb Qureshi (@hosseeb) posted on Platform X to refute recent reports claiming that Polymarket founder Shayne Coplan was 'caught red-handed misappropriating company funds,' calling it 'utter garbage and a smear piece.'
Haseeb stated that Shayne did not take a salary in the early stages of his startup, operating out of an apartment and barely making ends meet when he started at the age of 21. He mentioned that their fund was the first to issue a term sheet to Polymarket and that he had even personally offered Shayne a loan. Haseeb explained that every expense disclosed by Shayne, when annualized, was roughly equivalent to the annual salary of a software engineer (including travel expenses, none of which were personal trips). Furthermore, Shayne himself initiated the accounting and repayment process, ultimately repaying the company in full and converting the amounts into regular salary.
Haseeb concluded, 'This is an accounting issue, not a matter of integrity, and it’s not a big deal,' adding that, as an investor, he has full confidence in Shayne.
