**[Accomplice in Qian Zhiming Case Returns £5.6 Million to UK Government]**
BlockBeats News, October 21: According to a report by the UK's *Daily Mail*, an individual who assisted a fraudster involved in a £5.5 billion scam in laundering money has returned £5.6 million to the UK government.
48-year-old Hok Seng Ling admitted to participating in the largest money laundering case in UK history and was ordered by the court to surrender the aforementioned funds. Ling previously served as the "housekeeper" for Qian Zhiming, who orchestrated a Ponzi scheme that defrauded over 128,000 Chinese investors between 2014 and 2017. The proceeds of the scam were later converted into Bitcoin, and Qian fled to the UK.
Ling, a Malaysian national residing in Matlock, Derbyshire, UK, helped the "Bitcoin Queen" launder her illicit gains and assisted her in evading UK police by booking Airbnb accommodations and arranging support personnel.
In November last year, Ling pleaded guilty to money laundering-related charges at Southwark Crown Court in London and was sentenced to 4 years and 11 months in prison. Subsequently, the judge issued a confiscation order requiring him to surrender £5,603,305, most of which came from cryptocurrency seized at the time of his arrest.
The funds have now been fully recovered, along with £1,990 in interest. [Original Link]
