Wu Blockchain has learned that six blockchain organizations—Stellar Development Foundation, Hedera, Aptos Labs, Ava Labs, Cardano Foundation, and Chainlink Labs—have jointly submitted a letter to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), requesting that the proposed *Regulation Crypto Assets* explicitly define 'Digital Commodity' and clarify its non-security attributes.
The co-signing organizations pointed out that the regulatory interpretation released by the SEC in March 2026 has already established the classification of digital commodities. However, the relevant definition currently only appears in the preamble of the proposed regulation and has not yet been incorporated into the binding text of the rules.
The organizations believe that formally including this definition in the regulation would help reduce regulatory uncertainty and provide a more stable legal framework for public blockchain developers and ecosystem participants.
