[Mt. Gox Still Holds Approximately 34,400 BTC Worth About $2.8 Billion, Creditor Repayment Deadline Extended to October 2027]
Odaily Planet Daily News: The now-defunct cryptocurrency exchange Mt. Gox has extended the creditor repayment deadline to October 31, 2027. Trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi stated that the Tokyo District Court has approved the adjustment of the repayment timeline. This marks the sixth extension by Mt. Gox since 2023. Most creditors who have completed the necessary procedures without issues have already received repayments; however, some creditors have yet to receive payments due to incomplete processes or payment handling issues. Mt. Gox began repaying creditors in Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash in July 2024 and announced in March 2025 that over 19,500 creditors had received repayments. The latest notice did not disclose the number of outstanding creditors or the amount of Bitcoin yet to be distributed. As of Tuesday, wallets belonging to Mt. Gox still hold approximately 34,400 Bitcoin, valued at about $2.8 billion. (Cointelegraph)
