[Zhou Xiaochuan: Research and Contingency Plans Should Be Conducted to Prevent Financial Risks Triggered by Investment Failures in the AI Sector]
Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on October 20, Zhou Xiaochuan, former governor of the People's Bank of China, stated at the 2026 Bund Summit's roundtable forum titled 'AI and Productivity Transformation: Macroeconomic Impacts of Technological Leapfrogging' that with the evolution of artificial intelligence technology, we will undoubtedly face a scenario where some investments fail while others succeed. However, considering the massive flow of capital into artificial intelligence and related infrastructure today, if a portion of these investments were to fail, it could trigger financial turbulence and potentially lead to a crisis. This would necessitate large-scale actions to support the economy and provide bailouts to certain financial institutions. Therefore, we should conduct research and prepare contingency plans, equipping the policy toolbox with appropriate measures to address such turbulence and impacts.
