[ByteDance, Alibaba, and Tencent Order Over $35 Billion Worth of Chips from NVIDIA]
According to DeepTech TechFlow on October 20, Reuters reported that sources revealed ByteDance, Alibaba, and Tencent have ordered over 3 million units of NVIDIA's new RTX PRO 5500 workstation GPUs, with a total value exceeding $35 billion based on the listed price. The RTX PRO 5500 is a workstation-grade GPU and not NVIDIA's most advanced AI chip designed for large-scale data center clusters. However, it complies with U.S. export control regulations to China and is currently one of the higher-performance NVIDIA chips available to Chinese buyers. The report stated that NVIDIA has informed customers and partners that due to demand from Chinese tech companies far exceeding the originally planned production capacity, the company cannot guarantee fulfillment of all related orders. This also highlights the strong demand in the Chinese market for NVIDIA's compliant computing power products amidst restrictions on advanced AI chips.
