Golden Finance reported on October 20 that, according to foreign media, Intel (INTC.O) has applied to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for an exemption from the recent ban on foreign-made advanced robotics, stating that the company needs to continue using specific specialized equipment critical to U.S. semiconductor manufacturing. According to the application documents submitted on October 16 and made public on Monday, Intel is concerned that its Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) equipment may be affected by regulations that comprehensively prohibit the import and sale of foreign advanced robotics technology. These devices are primarily used for transporting materials within semiconductor factories. Intel stated that ensuring the continued operation of these robots is "critical" to U.S. national security. Currently, there are no verified domestic alternatives that meet Intel's stringent requirements, and replacing existing equipment would take years. Any operational disruptions would "immediately have a negative impact on Intel's semiconductor manufacturing capacity in the U.S."
