According to Wu Blockchain, California Attorney General Rob Bonta issued a warning about cryptocurrency scam risks on October 19, highlighting that U.S. cybercrime losses are projected to reach $20.9 billion by 2025, with $11.4 billion attributed to cryptocurrency scams. Fraud tactics include AI deepfakes, fake liquidity mining schemes, malicious smart contracts, and investment scams. Bonta stated that California's recently signed SB 1208 bill allows law enforcement agencies to return seized crypto assets involved in scams to victims through court procedures, even if the suspects are outside U.S. jurisdiction and cannot be convicted. The California Department of Justice has shut down over 100 scam websites in recent years, involving losses of at least $8.3 million. https://(wublock123.com)/news/california-attorney-general-2025-us-crypto-scam-loss-11-4b-assets-return-bill-70332
