[Shenzhen Economic Investigation: Beware of 'RWA Real Estate Tokenization' Scams, Domestic Fundraising Under the Name of RWA is Illegal Financial Activity] Foresight News reports that the Shenzhen Local Financial Supervision Bureau and Shenzhen Economic Investigation Department have issued a warning about the risks of new concept scams such as 'RWA Real Estate Tokenization' and 'Blockchain Evidence Storage.' They stated that, according to current regulatory provisions, any fundraising activities conducted domestically under the name of RWA are considered illegal financial activities. The article disclosed a case: A product manager at an internet company came across a so-called 'First Domestic Real Estate RWA Project' in a Web3 group chat. The other party claimed that with an investment of just 10,000 yuan, one could own fractional property rights, receive automatic dividends via smart contracts, and earn an annualized return of 18% to 24%. They also provided materials such as a real smart contract address, company registration documents, and a third-party custody agreement. The product manager invested 100,000 yuan and initially received weekly dividends as promised, prompting further investment. However, three months later, the app stopped paying dividends under the pretext of a 'system upgrade.' Upon investigation, there were no records of property segmentation, trust, or co-ownership for the related real estate, and the other party subsequently disappeared. Shenzhen Economic Investigation stated that a contract address and company registration number only prove the existence of the code and that the entity is registered; they do not verify the authenticity of the underlying assets or indicate financial business qualifications. Virtual currencies do not have the same legal status as fiat currencies, and any token issuance financing or virtual currency trading speculation is not protected by law.
