[Lee Jae-myung: Will Take Necessary Measures to Normalize the Stock Market] According to a report by Jinse Finance on October 19, citing Yonhap News Agency, in response to the recent stock market decline that has significantly reduced the valuation of domestic stocks held by South Korea's National Pension Service, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung stated on October 19: 'We are continuously evaluating which policy measures need to be taken to normalize the stock market. A comprehensive report will be reviewed soon, and necessary measures will be implemented.' Lee Jae-myung remarked: 'After a significant rise in stock prices, adjustments are inevitable. As for the extent of the adjustment, no one can predict. Unlike in the past, the government now finds it difficult to directly intervene in financial or securities markets, and doing so is also undesirable.' However, he pointed out: 'The South Korean stock market is severely undervalued. One of the biggest reasons for this phenomenon is that the negative perception of transparency and fairness in the market has not been completely eliminated.' Regarding market trends and prospects, he stated that the government is closely monitoring the situation. He added: 'In the stock market, many people often repeatedly tell themselves "it won't fall, it won't fall," only to end up trapped. We need to minimize such situations as much as possible.'
