Recently, the Ukrainian military has been arguing about Elon Musk's Starlink. The reason? Around the 13th-14th of this month, the military version of Starlink, Starshield, used by Ukraine, experienced disconnections when moving at speeds exceeding approximately 160 km/h.
This affected drones that were supposed to be used in operations against Russia, disrupting frontline missions and logistical support.
Then, after the incident, things got interesting.
Musk responded, saying that Starshield is controlled by the U.S. government, and the speed limits are decided by the U.S. military and the President, not him personally. He also clarified that the civilian version of Starlink is different and cannot be used for military purposes.
When the ball was passed to Trump, he denied issuing any orders. Even Secretary of State Rubio said that Ukraine currently doesn’t have access to Starshield, but admitted that speed restrictions did occur to some extent, though no one gave a direct order.
As for Ukraine, they eventually claimed that operations had resumed but still noted that the speed limits remain. So now, people are still arguing on X about who gave the order, whether it was intentional to de-escalate the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and whether Musk should take the blame.
