[Former Mt.Gox CEO Claims Ledger Authenticity Verification Statement Contradicts Its Own Documentation]
According to a report by Jinse Finance on October 19, former Mt.Gox CEO Mark Karpelès posted on the X platform, archiving a response from Ledger customer support dated August 20, which he claimed contradicts Ledger's own technical documentation. The response stated that the secure element is 'designed to detect physical tampering' and that if 'additional hardware attempts to intercept signals,' it would fail the authenticity verification. However, Ledger's support center article 'Checking Hardware Integrity' explicitly states that as long as the original secure element remains intact, authenticity verification cannot detect 'unauthorized physical hardware tampering, such as spy implants.'
Karpelès noted that less than two months after this response was issued, over $90 million was stolen. Ledger has yet to confirm the total amount of losses, but Galaxy Research estimated on October 16 that the figure stands at $91 million.
