🗡️ The Damage Report 🚨 (Oct 18): Tampered Ledgers drained $91M+ from hundreds of wallets, plus a $141M lawsuit, a data breach and a bunch of wind-downs. Here's all the damage from the past week in one post: • Some Ledgers sold through Southeast Asian reseller CryptoBilis had a hidden implant that stole recovery phrases during setup. $91M+ gone. Buy direct from the manufacturer. • DWF Labs affiliates are suing BitGo for $141M, claiming it sold discounted FF and ESPORTS tokens about two months before their lock-up ended. • XRP Ledger fixed a 2015 bug that could've minted ~18 trillion XRP at once. Veria Labs' AI agent found it and got the max $250K bounty. • An attacker used 79thVault's stolen operator key to drain ~$12.5M (16.2K BNB), then sent back 15,000 BNB (~$11M). About as good as a drain gets. • A breach of Based's card dashboard exposed cardholders' names, passport/NRIC numbers and addresses, tied to their wallets. Expect scammers who already know your name. • Blur's frontend shuts down November 12. The protocol stays live onchain, and BLUR keeps the fee switch. • Relay is retiring its Vaults. Withdraw through the app by December 31, or straight from the contracts after that. • Edgen, an AI copilot for crypto and stock investors, shut down October 12. Accounts are closed and its X account is suspended. The XRPL bug is the one I keep thinking about. It sat in the code for ten years and an AI agent found it first… luckily a whitehat. The "Mythos risk" is real, and I'm not sure every protocol makes it through. The ones that do are gonna come out a lot stronger.
