[DTCC Opens $30 Trillion Tokenization Service, Stellar Listed as 2027 Launch Partner]
According to a report by U.Today on October 19, as cited by Jinse Finance, the U.S. Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) will open commercial access to its tokenization service this month, covering approximately $30 trillion in assets under the DTC central securities depository, accounting for one-fourth of its custodial assets. Initially, the service will operate exclusively on two closed platforms, Canton and Besu, incorporating 25 liquidity instruments in the first phase, including U.S. Treasury securities, major ETFs, and Russell 1000 large-cap stocks.
A report released by DTCC on October 16 indicates that the initial system framework is stringent, supporting only two types of participants to convert traditional securities into tokens via UI or API between 2:00 AM and 6:00 PM Eastern Time. Institutions will be able to transfer tokens between wallets 24/7. Stellar (XLM) has been listed as a 2027 launch partner and will be integrated through the SEP-41 standard alongside Circle's Arc solution. The original plan for the first half of 2027 remains unchanged. A closed pilot in July included participation from over 30 Wall Street institutions.
