Real wealth isn’t about what car you drive—it’s about how much you own! This chart reveals a harsh truth about wealth. Let’s say you spend an extra €400 a month to upgrade to a fancier car. People around you might think: “Wow! You’re doing great, you’re getting richer!” But what if you invested that money instead? Investing €400 monthly for 20 years: Total principal invested: €96,000 Annual return of 3%: Final amount ~€131,000 Annual return of 5%: Final amount ~€162,000 Annual return of 7%: Final amount ~€203,000 The same amount of money could grow into over €200,000 in assets after 20 years! The irony is: Someone spending €400 a month on a luxury car is seen as successful. Meanwhile, someone investing €400 a month in stocks, ETFs, or other assets might seem ordinary, but they’re quietly building wealth. Society often mistakes “spending power” for “wealth power.” But what truly determines your future financial freedom isn’t how much you spend today. It’s: How much of what you earn today can you keep—and use to create more wealth over time? Of course, investment returns aren’t guaranteed, and stocks or crypto can lose value. And I’m not against enjoying life. What I’m against is rushing to prove you’re wealthy through spending before you’ve built enough assets. The ideal approach is to let your assets grow first, then use cash flow that doesn’t compromise your long-term financial security to enjoy the life you love. Being wealthy isn’t about looking rich to others—it’s about truly having the freedom to choose your own path in life. Build assets first, then upgrade your lifestyle. That’s the wealth mindset I believe is worth pursuing.
