[Bitcoin Futures Open Interest Drops to $7.68 Billion, Funding Rate Remains Positive] Reported by Jinse Finance, on October 19, according to NewsBTC, a snapshot of derivatives taken on Saturday (October 17, 11:00 UTC) shows that Bitcoin futures open interest (OI) stood at $7.68 billion, down 0.69% over 24 hours. The funding rate remains positive at 0.0035% every 8 hours, meaning perpetual contract long positions are paying short positions, indicating that leveraged buyers are still willing to pay to hold long positions. It is important to distinguish: a decrease in OI represents contracts being closed or reduced, while a positive funding rate reflects the continued willingness of leveraged longs to pay, neither of which necessarily predicts market direction. Among the markets analyzed, Bitcoin long accounts accounted for 63.2%, which is based on the number of accounts and does not imply that nearly two-thirds of the funds are long—each contract has both a buyer and a seller. During the same period, overall market risk appetite declined, with Solana's open interest dropping even more significantly, down 4.25% over 24 hours to approximately $929.5 million. The report pointed out that the data does not confirm that traders have completed deleveraging.
