[South Korea's Financial Services Commission Lists Gopax Operator Streami Among 16 Institutions Affected by Hacking Incident]
According to a report by Bitcoinist on October 19, South Korea's Financial Services Commission (FSC) has listed Gopax exchange operator Streami as one of the 16 financial institutions affected by a recent hacking incident. On October 14, the FSC disclosed that the hacking incident impacted a total of 16 financial institutions, with approximately 100,000 cases of data breaches identified. It should be clarified that the figure of 100,000 represents the scope of the regulator's investigation into the entire financial industry and does not reflect the number of Gopax's individual customers. Currently, there is no breakdown of the data by institution.
The incident has also drawn attention to Gopax's information disclosure practices. According to the Seoul Economic Daily, as of October 15, the exchange had not issued an apology or provided a detailed public explanation. The FSC stated that it would investigate whether artificial intelligence (AI) was involved in the attack methods and would implement broader security checks and coordinated responses. The report emphasized that existing evidence does not indicate that Gopax has suffered the theft of any significant amount of cryptocurrency assets.
