[Russian Central Bank: Self-custody wallet crypto transactions to be banned starting July 2027] Odaily Planet Daily News – The Russian Central Bank announced that starting July 1, 2027, Russian residents will be prohibited from conducting crypto asset transactions using self-custody wallets or transferring assets from regulated brokers to self-custody wallets. Such transactions will only be allowed through licensed brokers or exchanges. Currently, 13 institutions in Russia are authorized to provide digital currency trading services, including VTB Bank and Sberbank. The central bank also prohibits transfers between accounts held by different individuals on licensed exchanges, and even if the accounts are owned by the same person, withdrawals to self-custody wallets from exchange accounts will not be permitted. Russian Deputy Finance Minister Ivan Chebeskov estimates that approximately 20 million Russians hold 3.7 trillion rubles, nearly $44 billion, in crypto assets. Sberbank Deputy Chairman Anatoly Popov stated that it is expected that only about 20% of Russia's crypto trading volume will shift to licensed exchanges. (Bitcoin.com News)
