[Opinion: Nearly 90% of Ethereum Loan Liquidations in the Past Year Used Atomic Paths, RWAs May Shift to Off-Chain Liquidation] BlockBeats News, October 18, analysis firm Sentora published an article stating that over the past year, approximately $1.63 billion in liquidations on Ethereum lending platforms were settled through atomic paths, accounting for 89% of the total. Atomic liquidations rely on DEX liquidity. RWA (Real-World Asset) collateral, which often has thinner liquidity pools and whitelist transfer restrictions, is likely to drive more liquidations toward off-chain market makers, RFQs, and solver paths. Atomic paths refer to liquidations where collateral realization and debt repayment are completed within the same on-chain transaction. Common methods include flash loans, self-funded advances, or direct contract calls. In contrast, RWAs are often difficult to liquidate instantly on DEXs, leading to more liquidations being handled by compliant off-chain market makers through RFQ transactions and solvers taking over the collateral before closing the position.
