The crypto community already discussed the issue of BTC's resistance to quantum computing in the first half of the year, but I didn’t expect it to resurface now. When it comes to solving this issue, the technology itself isn’t the problem. The only real problem is: How to deal with the funds tied to exposed public key addresses. So far, there’s no good solution. Ultimately, BTC will face a period of pain. No one knows exactly when that will happen. Even in extreme scenarios, where the BTC community completely abandons those millions of tokens, letting hackers take them, BTC will still survive the crisis because of its resilience. For some people, this might actually be an opportunity. In the end, Ethereum might benefit from this process, since, relatively speaking, Ethereum is better prepared for quantum resistance. Another possibility is that BTC drags down the entire market. If that happens, at the beginning, there will be no winners.
