**[Brooklyn Prosecutors and FBI Shut Down 241 Crypto Scam Domains Involved in Three-Year Cross-Border Network]** According to a report by CryptoBriefing on October 18, Gold Finance reported that the Virtual Currency Unit (VCU) led by Assistant District Attorney Alona Katz of the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office, in collaboration with the FBI's New York office, seized or shut down 241 scam domains and 112 servers on October 14. This operation marks the conclusion of a three-year investigation targeting an internationally connected crypto investment scam network. The investigation traced leads to Eastern Europe, particularly Ukraine, with the seized servers located in Eastern Europe and the United States. The network primarily targeted Russian-speaking communities, using Russian-language advertisements on Facebook to lure victims to fraudulent crypto investment platforms, followed by secondary scams under the guise of "recovering funds." Investigators estimate the related losses to be in the tens of millions of dollars, with some victims losing their entire savings. Prosecutors have so far recovered approximately $300,000 for the victims, though no arrests have been reported in connection with this operation. According to data from the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center, Americans are projected to lose $11.366 billion to crypto scams by 2025.
