Sun Yuchen personally admitted that Bitcoin has a fatal risk, and the market has not yet priced it.
On October 17th, during a 3.5-hour offline conversation with Jin Ming, Sun Yuchen shared his views on Bitcoin and personal asset allocation, which were very forward-looking. Some of his measures are worth taking a look at and learning from.
Sun Yuchen expressed that he is relatively bearish on Bitcoin because one of the risks in the future of Bitcoin is not from regulation or the Federal Reserve, but from the impact of AI algorithms.
Many people thought he would sell BTC, but he didn't.
His BTC bottom position has not decreased for a year, and he has not sold it either.
He chose another approach: withdrawing the coins from the exchange, putting them in a cold wallet, physically isolating them, and implementing a 'cover mode'.
This is not a position swap or short selling, it's hiding one's own Bitcoin.
But what's even more worth watching is how he handles ETH.
Last year, the amount was reduced by 80% to 90% from $3600 to $4000, and the funds were transferred to the US stock market. His current main warehouse is NVIDIA, with no reduction in heavy holdings.
He is worried about AI attacks on Bitcoin while also heavily investing in AI computing power leaders.
The same thing, one for defense and one for offense.
Pay attention to one detail: he is afraid that BTC will be hacked by AI, but he did not sell it. He chose isolation.
This is not about not being optimistic, it's about knowing what you're afraid of and taking action in advance.
But in our opinion, he guarded against the wrong place.
Cold wallet isolation means that the private key does not touch the network. This can prevent hackers and theft.
But it cannot prevent AI.
The real vulnerability of Bitcoin lies not in the private key, but in the public key.
Every transaction exposes the public key on the chain. On chain data has issued a warning: the public keys of over 6 million BTC have been fully exposed, accounting for more than 30% of the traffic.
What AI needs to do is not steal your cold wallet. It calculates the private key directly from the public key.
Ethereum Foundation researcher Justin Drake has warned:
In the worst-case scenario, AI driven mathematical breakthroughs could allow attackers to use existing GPU clusters to deduce private keys from public keys within a week, possibly within a few months.
Not a quantum computer, we don't need that several hundred ton machine.
AII only requires a mathematical shortcut that humans have not yet thought of.
If that day really comes, there is no difference between a cold wallet and a hot wallet in the eyes of attackers.
What should I do?
It's not about 'hiding', it's about replacing the underlying signature algorithm.
Coinbase's timeline: The migration of Bitcoin's signature system may take up to seven years.
BIP-360 and BIP-361 are already under discussion to keep the public key hidden before spending, gradually phasing out the old ECDSA signature.
But seven years is an optimistic estimate. The consensus upgrade of Bitcoin has never been faster.
The most practical thing that individual holders can do now is:
Do not reuse the address. After each expenditure, transfer the remaining funds to a new address and hide the public key back behind the hash.
This is not anti quantum, it's anti AI. If that day really comes, at least you're not the first one to be targeted.
Sun Yuchen was afraid, so he was quarantined. That's right.
But what he isolated was the private key, not the signature algorithm.
If AI breaks through ECDSA itself,
No matter how thick the cold wallet is, it cannot withstand it.
