[Thai Police Arrest Chinese National in Bangkok for Alleged Cross-Border Criminal Network Money Laundering Involving Over 500 Million RMB] According to Deep Tide TechFlow, on October 17, Khaosod English reported that Thai immigration police arrested a 37-year-old Chinese national in Bangkok. The man was wanted by Chinese authorities for allegedly participating in a cross-border criminal network and money laundering activities. Investigators stated that the network handled transactions exceeding 500 million RMB (approximately 2.485 billion Thai Baht). Police revealed that the suspect used more than 133 accounts to facilitate cryptocurrency and foreign currency exchanges for multiple criminal groups and was suspected of arranging visas for members of other cross-border criminal networks involved in money laundering cases. To evade capture, he used forged documents to register his residence, changed license plates, and wrapped his vehicle to alter its color. Police eventually apprehended him at a luxury residence in the Saphan Sung district of Bangkok. The man’s Thai residency permit had expired for approximately 3 years and 8 months. He has been charged with illegal overstaying under Section 81 of the Immigration Act. Thai authorities will complete the relevant legal procedures before coordinating with Chinese authorities to extradite him under the warrant.
