[Approximately $30 Trillion in Underlying Assets, DTCC Tokenization Service Initially Supports 25 Securities]
Odaily Planet Daily reports that DTCC's tokenization service has initially opened support for 25 tokenizable securities, with underlying assets being DTC-custodied securities, totaling approximately $30 trillion. Tokens maintain a 1:1 correspondence with the original securities, using the same CUSIP, with rights and investor protections consistent with book-entry securities. Official ledger records will still be maintained by DTC. Peer-to-peer transfers between DTC-registered wallets can occur around the clock, with compliance transfer restrictions in place. Dividend and maturity services for U.S. Treasury securities will be conducted on-chain, with payments made in fiat currency to participants' traditional accounts.
The first batch of supported assets includes Russell 1000 index components, certain ETFs, and U.S. Treasury securities. The initial networks include Canton Network's CIP-56 and DTCC's private Besu network using ERC-20. Stellar's SEP-41 and Circle's Arc ERC-20 are expected to be integrated by 2027.
The subsequent roadmap includes expanding the range of tokenizable securities, adding single sign-on and maker-checker control features, extending corporate action services for stocks and ETFs, merging book-entry and on-chain stock records, and supporting on-chain net settlement, collateral, and digital cash. The scope of compliant DTC participants will be gradually expanded.
