[Bank of America Hired 1,000 Additional Contractors in Q2 to Fix Vulnerabilities Found by Mythos]
According to a report by The Register on October 14, as cited by Jinse Finance, Bank of America Chairman and CEO Brian Moynihan stated during the Q3 earnings call that due to a large number of code vulnerabilities exposed by Anthropic's Mythos model, the bank brought in approximately 1,000 additional external contractors in Q2 to work on 'Mythos fixes,' supplementing its existing team of about 3,000 technical security personnel. The contractors were hired as consultants and are not included in the employee headcount. The vulnerabilities were found in code jointly used by the bank's internal staff and external vendors.
Moynihan noted that expenses related to Mythos fixes and anti-money laundering remediation totaled 'over $200 million' this quarter, without breaking down the two items, and projected that Mythos-related spending would decline in the future. The bank also mentioned that approximately 130 AI projects are expected to yield long-term returns of 2 to 3 times.
Mythos was made available to a limited number of banks and government agencies in April this year through Project Glasswing. Earlier this month, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon stated that cybersecurity risks had 'increased tenfold' following the release of the model.
