[French Parliament Passes Amendment to Impose 31.4% Capital Gains Tax on Stablecoin Conversions]
According to a report by Journal du Coin on October 17, French National Assembly passed Amendment I-3898 to the 2027 Budget Bill on October 16. The amendment proposes that, starting from January 1, 2027, transactions converting crypto assets into electronic money tokens under the MiCA framework will be subject to capital gains taxation. The related gains will be taxed at a unified rate of 31.4%, even if the conversion does not involve euros, triggering tax obligations. This measure applies to stablecoins such as USDC and EURC. However, according to analysis cited from Chainalysis, USDT will not fall under the scope of this measure. The amendment still requires subsequent budget votes and Senate review before it can officially become law.
