According to Reuters, stablecoin issuer Circle (NYSE: CRCL) CEO Jeremy Allaire stated that the company plans to expand into approximately 40 emerging and developing markets globally to increase the use of USDC in cross-border payments and financial services. Speaking at the IMF and World Bank meeting in Bangkok, Allaire noted that demand for stablecoins continues to grow among individuals and businesses in Southeast Asia, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. The blockchain industry is transitioning from the early adoption phase to scaled applications. Circle is expanding its global payment network through initiatives like the proposed $400 million acquisition of Singapore-based cross-border payment company Tazapay. Data shows that USDC’s circulation grew 19% year-over-year in Q2 to $73.3 billion, accounting for approximately 25% of the global stablecoin market. Allaire also mentioned that automated micropayments between AI Agents are driving increased USDC usage, with more financial institutions adopting stablecoins for cross-border settlements and asset transfers.
