Today, the entire internet is buzzing about the viral video of Tesla's newly launched Roadster model doing a flying flip. Gotta say, it’s pretty stunning—at first glance, I even thought it was an AI-generated video. And scheduling this launch right before Tesla’s Q3 earnings report on October 21? That’s some strategic planning, no doubt. Let’s talk about the car first. True to Elon Musk’s reputation for delays, this model is 9 years late to the party, and it won’t hit the market until next year. Meanwhile, Tesla’s current lineup is facing aging and outdated designs, so they urgently need to roll out updated products to maintain sales momentum. Now, this car isn’t actually capable of flying. Instead, it’s equipped with jet propulsion technology borrowed from SpaceX’s Falcon rockets. Essentially, Musk is further integrating Tesla and SpaceX’s tech—both are mature technologies on their own, but combining them? That’s undeniably cool. There’s also a rumor floating around that Tesla’s earnings call might reveal news about a merger between the two companies. But as we analyzed during the Q2 earnings report, the optimal scenario for Musk would be initiating a merger when SPCX is priced high and TSLA is priced low. Right now, the stock prices don’t align for that, so further adjustments on both sides might be needed. This new product launch won’t impact the already-closed Q3 earnings report, but if the financials don’t look great, the excitement generated by this launch could provide strong emotional support and act as a buffer against potential stock drops. One more thing—this technology doesn’t seem very practical for everyday use. It’s not a real flying car, and if it randomly ejects, it could even injure pedestrians. Maybe the only use case is something like a fighter jet’s ejection seat? Like, if the car behind you suddenly turns into a missile—oops, I mean if its brakes fail—you could eject to avoid danger? (Just kidding, not really )
