🇮🇩 BREAKING: Indonesian stocks PLUNGE over -10%, triggering a trading halt as MSCI threatens to remove the country from its main global indices.
MSCI says Indonesia no longer merits emerging-market status and is consulting on a downgrade to STANDALONE status, citing persistent concerns over market transparency, concentrated ownership and trading integrity.
The move could trigger BILLIONS in investor outflows, adding pressure to what is already the world’s worst-performing stock market this year, according to the FT.
The rupiah fell 0.8% to 18,060 per dollar, while 10-year government bond yields climbed to 7.32%.
The downgrade is still a proposal, giving regulators time to respond.
