ARRR was just inflated by about 20% out of thin air, and the project team is asking everyone not to transfer coins. Pirate Chain's ARRR transactions can enter the Sapling privacy pool, and once inside, it's tough for outsiders to trace where the coins go.
On October 14, the project team discovered a transaction verification vulnerability. Attackers exploited this loophole to mint approximately 39.8 million ARRR without authorization.
Afterward, this batch of newly minted ARRR entered the privacy pool. NonKYC restricted withdrawals from related accounts, but this only blocks exchange accounts. Once the coins are in the pool, it's still hard to trace where they went.
As a precaution, the dPoW operators subsequently paused notarizations, and the project team also advised users not to transfer funds temporarily. ARRR's anonymity mechanism can hide transactions, and now it's also standing in the way of tracking down this batch of inflated coins.
