[Brazilian Securities Commission: Launches Tokenized Securities Pilot Project to Test Blockchain Transactions]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, on October 16, the Brazilian Securities Commission (CVM) issued Resolution No. 249, initiating a tokenized securities pilot project to simulate stock trading and the issuance, operation, and management of securities on a blockchain network. The project will be conducted in a controlled environment, using specially created simulated assets for stocks and funds, without involving real financial risks.
The project aims to compare the advantages and disadvantages of public blockchains versus private blockchains for securities operations and assess risks such as cybersecurity, smart contracts, interoperability, and network resilience. Blockchain networks participating in the pilot must encode market rules into smart contracts, ensure privacy in securities operations, and remain subject to audits by regulatory authorities.
Brazil's largest stock exchange, B3, is currently developing a tokenization platform, which is planned to go live in 2027. The platform will utilize a self-developed stablecoin and, in its initial phase, will not offer 24/7 trading. It aims to integrate liquidity pools of digital assets with those of traditional markets.
