[Trump Administration Sues California, Attempts to Block 20,000 Ballots from Being Counted] According to a report by Axios on October 16, the Trump administration has filed a lawsuit against the state of California and two election officials, alleging that the state sent mail-in ballots for this November's election to individuals suspected of being ineligible to vote. The lawsuit requests the court to prevent approximately 20,000 voters' ballots from being included in the election results until their citizenship status is verified. The investigative departments of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have compiled a list of voters who may be ineligible to vote using data from their respective agencies, as well as records from the Social Security Administration and the State Department. However, in previous cases in Nevada, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, the government-compiled voter registration lists containing suspected non-citizens were found to lack accuracy.
