[Iranian Military: Strait Remains Closed, Will Retaliate Multiple Times if Infrastructure is Attacked] According to a report by Jinse Finance on October 16, citing the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), Iranian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Hatami stated on October 15 that the Strait of Hormuz remains closed and will not be reopened until the rights of the Iranian people are respected. Claims from external sources that the strait has already been reopened are untrue. Hatami noted that the western part of the Strait of Hormuz is controlled by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Navy, while the eastern part and the Gulf of Oman are under the control of the Iranian Army Navy. Recently, Iran has taken more aggressive maritime actions, with numerous vessels deemed by Iran to be in violation either striking mines or being attacked. Hatami stated that Iran has used the relatively calm period on the battlefield to repair significant wartime damages, improving the quantity, quality, and readiness of its armed forces' equipment. He emphasized that Iran is fully prepared to respond to any war. He warned that if Iranian infrastructure is attacked, Iran will retaliate against the enemy's infrastructure and interests multiple times over and urged adversaries not to launch further attacks.
