This is a major upgrade for institutional users. Bitget unlocks a new feature: users can transfer eligible U.S. stock holdings from traditional brokerage accounts to their BG accounts and convert them into stock tokens, rToken. Maybe for regular users, seeing support for over 3,000 U.S. stocks and ETFs, the main concerns are: are the fees high? Is the process convenient? But from an institutional perspective, the focus is on how to reduce unnecessary cash usage and make existing assets work harder, all without changing the risk budget. For example, a multi-strategy fund might hold NVDA and TSLA long-term while also running quant/hedge strategies in the crypto market. Even though the assets in the stock account have value, the crypto account still requires separate USDT as margin. In other words, the assets are on the same balance sheet, but the efficiency of use is low. Bitget’s new rToken brokerage transfer feature aims to break down the capital barriers between different financial markets, enabling previously siloed assets to operate more efficiently. Once transferred, eligible rTokens can be included in the unified account margin based on their respective collateral rates and can also be used for lending, significantly improving capital efficiency. Of course, transferring assets doesn’t equal net capital inflow. But as more institutions realize they don’t need to reallocate large amounts of idle funds to enter a new market, their willingness to participate will increase. The resulting trading demand, liquidity, and further asset allocation could then potentially translate into incremental capital for the crypto market. This also helps us better understand the shifting direction of RWA (Real World Assets): The future potential isn’t just about bringing traditional assets into the crypto world, but using it as a bridge to encourage more capital to step in.
