TSMC's profits are up nearly 70%, but memory stocks are still taking a beating. The earnings report was exciting, but opening my account left me speechless again TSM's Q3 net profit jumped 68.7% YoY, but on the other hand, SK Hynix dropped about 12%, and Samsung and Kioxia both fell over 10%.
I used to think that if a company made money, its stock price should go up. After paying enough 'tuition fees,' I finally realized that no matter how good the performance is, it depends on how expensive the stock was when you bought it and how high everyone's expectations were. And now, worries about rate hikes are back, tech stocks are falling, and the crypto market is following suit. Watching semiconductors during the day and crypto at night—both are giving me plenty to stress about.
As for my holdings in Micron (MU) and Marvell (MRVL), I'll keep an eye on orders and upcoming earnings reports. TSMC might be raking it in, but it’s not going to do my portfolio's homework for me. Being optimistic is one thing, but don’t go all-in at once. Otherwise, if a real buying opportunity comes along and you’re out of cash, all you can do is 'add to your position' with words.
