[Goldman Sachs: UNH Q3 EPS of $4.69 Beats Expectations, Target Price Raised to $506]
According to Deep Tide TechFlow, citing research from Tide Research, Goldman Sachs' October 13, 2026, report stated that UnitedHealth Group (UNH) posted adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $4.69 for Q3, significantly exceeding Goldman Sachs' estimate of $3.90 and the Visible Alpha consensus estimate of $4.06. The medical loss ratio was 88.4%, 160 basis points better than both Goldman Sachs' and consensus expectations. The 2026 adjusted EPS guidance was raised to at least $20.50, and management indicated that the 2027 consensus estimate of $22.54 might underestimate earnings potential.
Goldman Sachs concluded that Q3 results confirm a dual-cycle margin recovery, with Medicare Advantage (MA) margins recovering faster than expected. Additionally, Optum Health, commercial insurance, and Medicaid continue to offer additional profit leverage. The firm maintains a Buy rating and raises the target price from $490 to $506, representing a 33.9% upside from the October 13 closing price.
