The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) today announced the "ART" framework to support the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in the banking sector, aiming to establish an accountable, resilient, and trustworthy AI-enabled banking ecosystem. Specific measures under the "ART" framework include: issuing the latest *Supervisory Policy Manual on the Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence*, which incorporates insights from the second phase of the Generative AI Sandbox; collaborating with Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited and the University of Hong Kong to develop an AI training data-sharing platform, with data quality assurance as a core design principle; and further testing agent-based AI applications through the GenAI Sandbox++, as well as publishing a discussion paper on the proposed regulatory framework for Agentic AI governance. This explores intent-based accountability arrangements, a critical AI agent registry, and effective intervention mechanisms.
