[Bloomberg: Apple Plans to Launch First AI Features in China This December, Excluding New Siri Version]
Odaily Planet Daily News – According to informed sources, Apple plans to roll out its first Apple Intelligence features in mainland China this December through the iOS 27.3 update, covering iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices. The initial features to go live include Notification Summary, writing tools, personalized emoji Genmoji, and photo object removal, but will not include the new Siri AI assistant based on Google's Gemini model.
The report states that Apple has previously obtained preliminary approval to launch Apple Intelligence in China and has collaborated with Alibaba to develop AI safety mechanisms that comply with local regulatory requirements, as well as with Baidu to develop search and Siri-related functions. On September 29, Apple received the relevant license allowing recently launched iPhone models to support Apple Intelligence and Alibaba's AI models.
Additionally, the first batch of Apple Intelligence features in the Chinese version will not include image generation tools like Image Playground, and some text generation features will also be restricted. An Apple spokesperson declined to comment on the matter. (Bloomberg)
