[CITIC Securities: Still Expecting the Fed to Hold Steady in October and Hike Rates in December]
Odaily Planet Daily News – A research report by CITIC Securities states that the U.S. September CPI exceeded expectations, with core CPI once again running hot on a month-over-month basis and a broad range of price increases in specific categories. Inflation has not 'fallen back toward the target at a sufficiently fast pace.' We still expect the Federal Reserve to raise rates once more this year, holding steady in October and then hiking by 25bps in December. In an environment where oil prices remain high and inflationary stickiness persists, it will be difficult for U.S. financial conditions to ease meaningfully. Dollar liquidity is expected to remain relatively tight, U.S. Treasury yields lack a clear downward trajectory, and sentiment around gold remains fragile. Fundamentals are more critical than liquidity odds. (Jin10)
